Chefchaouen
Chefchaouen is a peaceful, picturesque town of beautiful old squares, gardens and is located in the Rif mountains about 1hour 30 minutes from Tangier and only 35km from the nearest beach. Its sky blue and whitewashed Medina has an Andalucian feel and many of its houses are over 300 years old. The town was built in the 15th century following the influx of refugees from Granada and is blessed with fresh mountain air and clean water straight from source. Chaouen as it is known by the locals has long been a popular resort with tourists; most of which come from Spain, France and the UK. Over 500 Europeans own homes in the Medina and Moroccan Property prices are quickly rising due to the demand for old Medinas houses. In peak season there is a shortage of hotels for the many tourists who visit annually; buying a Medina house and turning it into a hotel could be a lucrative venture. Average Moroccan property prices vary from 30 000 euros to 200 000 euros depending on size and location.

Meknes is one of the four imperial cities, a smaller more manageable version of Fez. It is located in north central Morocco close to the middle Atlas mountains. It has a rich medina full of magnificent riads. Its Medina dates as far back as the tenth century and much of it remains as it was, many of its houses still have the original tiles and wooden beams and painted domes from the 1200's. Its location couldn't be better only a 30 minute drive from the Roman ruins of Volubilis, a 2 hour drive from the beaches of Rabat and less than an hour's drive to the pretty mountain resort of Ifrane, a popular winter ski resort. Property prices in Meknes remain relatively low if compared to Marrakesh, however they are set to rise much higher as more and more tourists continue to buy in the area.
